Lunch and Learn

1-hour online or face-to-face group programmes on a wide range of topics

Our tailored ‘bite-sized’ online or face-to-face sessions are interactive and entertaining, ensuring that participants feel refreshed and reinvigorated, having learned something that they can easily apply at work and at home. The sessions can be organised around lunchtime, so that people can attend them without disrupting their working day, but they can also be run at any time of the day. All of these topics are also available as 1- to 2-day workshops, if you wish to explore these subjects in more depth.

Here’s a list of the sessions we currently run – if you are looking for a topic that isn’t on the list, please do contact us, as we can design a session for your particular needs:

As many of us move to fully online or hybrid working, we enjoy the benefits it brings – no commute, greater flexibility and no one stealing your sandwiches from the office fridge! However it brings obstacles too, such as the blurring of boundaries between work and home life, a tendency to overwork, managing interruptions during our working day, managing our time, keeping ourselves motivated and building strong relationships with our colleagues, some of whom we may have never met in person. This workshop addresses how to manage these issues and other challenges of home or remote working.

    • turbo-charging your physical, mental and emotional energy
    • achieving real, sustainable balance in your life

Jim Loehr and Tony Schwarz suggest that the key to peak performance is how we manage our energy, not our time. Energy can be divided into four categories – physical, emotional, mental and directional (our purpose and values). This workshop provides practical strategies as to how we can increase our energy in all four of these categories and how we can achieve more balance in our lives.

    • keeping your focus throughout the day, so you get so much more done
    • overcoming your addiction to your smartphone and other devices that distract you from both your goals and your relationships

During our working day, we are interrupted continually by the ping of our mobile, email alerts, requests from colleagues, meeting reminders and phone calls – no wonder it is so hard for us to focus and be highly effective. Most people check their smartphones 58 times a day. Thirty of those times are during work hours. This act of compulsive checking of our phones can be hazardous to our productivity. With all this, and the added complication of working from home for many people, we find it difficult to get through our workload each day. This workshop covers practical techniques to help us increase our focus and our effectiveness at work, to manage our smartphone addiction and avoid the trap of multi-tasking.

At work, we set ourselves goals and embark on new projects but we don’t always appreciate the huge contribution that a good night’s sleep makes to our success in achieving those goals, or to our general health, happiness, relationships & longevity. This workshop explores the science of sleep and the findings from decades of research which show how we can sleep better and longer and increase our productivity at work and at home.

    • tackling and accepting problems, living through adversity and moving on with life

Our work environments are often very stressful – we are asked to work harder and more quickly than our colleagues have in the past, addressing the constantly-changing demands of the external market. Much of the stress we feel, however, is self-imposed. We often drive ourselves to get everything right, or to weather problems without seeking help, and our inner critic is often far harsher than any of our colleagues or clients. We explore how to work with our inner demons, whose voices are often so subtle that we feel their effects but don’t even hear them. We also give practical strategies to support participants in overcoming & pre-empting stress.

    • having the difficult conversations you’ve been putting off for years, in a safe constructive way
    • breaking recurrent patterns of interaction that are not working for you or for others

Often, we think that we have a choice in sensitive situations – either we put our point across and hurt the other person, also risking rejection, or we keep quiet and have an easier life. There is, however, a third choice. We can be assertive, put our point across and stay safe and keep the other person safe throughout the conversation. We can also break recurrent patterns of interaction that are not working for us or for others. This workshop addresses how we can follow this ‘third way’ consistently.

Often workshops which seek to improve performance focus on one or two strategies but miss what gets in the way of us performing at our best. This workshop looks at the drivers of key performance and useful strategies, but it also addresses what goes on in our head and in our body, and what holds us back from achieving what we are capable of. As the saying goes, “How would you feel if, on your last day on earth, the person you became met the person you could have become?”

It is packed with practical tips and ideas, including learning from other highly successful companies. It can be designed for managers, the team members themselves, or both together.
